Fantasy Photoshoot Sneak Peek

Today I styled a photoshoot for Almertia photography. The theme was fantasy so I chose this gray Forever21 dress that I found in a thrift store, brand new, and only $5. The photoshoot was early this morning (everyone knows I'm not a morning person) and it was about 30 degrees outside...now that's dedication! All in the name of Fashion.

International Street Wear

Since I'll be graduating in December I've been up all night doing serious amount of projects. Even though it's so much work I can't complain how much I love getting creative and doing these assignments so I decided to show everyone my fashion skills on paper. These outfit designs are for my Product Development class where the theme of my collection is "International Street Wear" I don't think I got what it takes to be a designer but who knows, maybe in the future I could start drawing out my first real collection or call myself a fashion illustrator.

Meeting DYKNY PR Girl

Yesterday I got the pleasure of meeting Aliza Licht (DKNY PR Girl) at the Tysons Galleria 25th anniversary. For many of those who have no ideas who this wonderful woman is let me give you a little bio. Aliza is senior vice president for global communications at Donna Karan International and been working there since 1998. Her signature red lip and fabulous personality makes her stand out from the crowd. Her career started as an intern in Marie Claire which later on lead her to Harper's Bazaar where she specialized in accessories for two years. Since there weren't many editor position openings she decided to give PR a chance and she fell in love with it. Aliza was the one that brought the brand into the digital age back in 2009 when she created a twitter account, DKNY PR Girl) with now over 6,000 followers.
Unlike most of the people that are part of the Fashion Industry, this woman is so humble and down to earth. I know I haven't been part of the industry for that long, but I've never met someone so inspiring and real like her. She is most definitely a person worth knowing if you're interested in PR or anything related to the Fashion Industry and life.

Vintage Find

Last Wednesday I stopped by Bethesda and tried my luck with thrift store shopping once again (Apparently the best thrift stores in the DMV are in Bethesda). As always I was running late, thanks to my chaotic life, but I got to this little thrift store, Mustard Seed. Out of the many thrift stores in Bethesda I decided to visit this one first since it had good reviews. I instantly fell in love with it. Even though it's so small it has some great stuff.

While I was looking through the vintage section, a bright pink fabric caught my eye. I took it out and I felt that feeling when you know you genuinely love something. Although there was no tag, I found a small tag on the side that said International Ladies Garment Worker Union. After some researching I found that according to the logo the jacket could be from 1964 to 1973. This vintage jacket was only $18 and now I'm totally hooked on thrift store shopping. Can't wait to style it soon.

Stylists...What Do We Do?

Stylist: "A person who supplies and curates the clothing and accessories for all the models on a photo shoot or video, actors in a movie or commercial, and or helps individuals shop, curate their closet and define/refine the client’s image." alexandrastylist.com
Stylist (To me): A person who helps every day people, models, or actors to express themselves through their clothes.

My mission is to not only make people look great but to also portray their personality through their outfits and show they world you don't need to be rich in order to look great. As long as you're creative and look beyond the obvious you can achieve the look that will make you feel like the kind of person you want to be that day.
